The Apple Pie Inn (formerly the
historic Thompson House Inn)
|
The Apple Pie Inn B&B is a romantic Victorian inn authentically
and lovingly restored to its original charm. Step back in time to a
simpler age and feel the pace slow down. The 1840's vernacular farmhouse
has been furnished with period antiques gathered over 30 years. Many of
the pieces are original to the house. The surrounding porches offer a
place to read, relax or gaze at the Jay mountains across the valley. |
In the early part of the last century the inn catered to people who
came on the railroads fleeing the heat of the cities. They were looking
for healthful mountain air, exercise and good food. The Apple Pie Inn
tries to keep the tradition with an old fashioned Adirondack breakfast
including homemade breads and our award winning apple pie. This is a meal
designed to carry you through a rigorous day of physical activities or of
intense relaxation! We are now open year round for those who love the
other three beautiful seasons.

Across from the inn is the Ausable river. A short walk through the
village green and down the hill, brings you to one of the most visited
spots in the area. The 1857 covered bridge, now under restoration, sits
above the rapids of the Ausable River and the local swimming hole. You can
take a swim or sit in the natural "Jacuzzi". While the Apple Pie Inn is
conveniently located in the heart of town, it has 57 acres of walking or
cross country ski trails directly behind the house. In the town there are
such a variety of artist studios, craft galleries, woodworkers and fabric
designers that you'll have to visit again to see them all!
